Then the Dell Dimension Desktop uses a, Genuine Windows® XP Media Centre Edition 2005.
Advantage iMac

Memory: The Dell Dimension desktop uses a 512MB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz (2x256M). While Apple’s iMac uses a 512MB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x256, with the option of an upgrade but that would mean that the price would raise as well.
Even

Hard Drives: Apple’s iMac uses a 160GB ATA hard drive. Then Dell’s Dimension Desktop uses a 80GB hard drive.
Advantage iMac

Cd or DVD Drive: Dell offers a 24x CD-RW / DVD-ROM Combo Drive with its Dimension Desktop. Then Apple offers a 24x CD-RW / DVD-ROM Combo Drive as well.
Even

Monitor: With apple’s iMac it has a built in 17inch monitor which would be ideal for people who are looking save some space. With the Dell however they offer a 19-inch monitor. So in this category it depends what you are looking for.
Dependant

Summary: Both of these Desktop PC’s are actually quite a close comparison. Also not mentioned so far is that both of the models use a Intel GMA 950 graphics card. So in buying these laptops it would depend what you are looking for. With the iMac, the software and general feel of the operating system is meant more for audio and video editing or viewing. So Apple’s model is meant more for a home desktop, while Dell’s is more of a business or home business desktop. But in the end 50 dollars is not very much in the long run and I would say that the advantage goes to Apple’s iMac.

Resources:

Dell:http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/dt_5150c?c=ca&cs=CADHS1&l=en&s=dhs
Apple: http://www.apple.com/ca/
